Richard Sandlin

I'm a regular faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at Douglas College. I was previously an instructor at Corpus Christi College.

I earned my BA from UC-Berkeley, MA from Brandeis and PHD from UBC.

I regularly teach courses in critical thinking, applied ethics (especially environmental, business and sports), metaphysics and philosophy of mind. I also teach courses in aesthetics and epistemology.

My philosophical interests lie in three areas: 1) the nature of perception and consciousness, 2) the relationship between environmental aesthetics, religion/spirituality and metaphysics and 3) philosophical puzzles that arise from the tension between reflection and everyday pre-reflective experience.
